When you order your metal nameplates, one of the options you will be presented with are choices for mounting. The choice you make for your nameplate mounting is determined by a number of factors which include the size of your nameplates, where it is to be mounted, the use of these plates and many more. In order to help you understand what your options are and which mounting choice is best for a particular usage, here are some of the mounting choices you may have when it comes to metal nameplates:
Desk holders – if your nameplates are to be placed on desks or counters, then desk holders are what you need for these. A desk holder holds a nameplate in place by holding it within two grooves, an upper and lower groove, that fits the nameplate just right. This means that you will need to choose a desk holder that is the same size as your nameplate for this to work.
Wall brackets and holders – brackets and holders that are wall mounted are made to be used for nameplates that show people who are in particular rooms or what the room is for. These holders can carry names, designations or room numbers. These holders are often used for rooms that change uses and occupants every now and then. These wall brackets and holders are attached to walls via adhesives or screws.
Velcro mounting – Velcro mounting is often used with metal nameplates that are lightweight, such as aluminum. Velcro mounting is utilized when the plates used with these can be changed for specific purposes. For example, if an office is used by a different person on different days, nameplates can be easily changed by removing the Velcro backed one which is in place and replacing it with another Velcro backed nameplate. The Velcro used on the wall and at the back of these plates is attached via an adhesive.
Adhesive – adhesives are often used with certain metal nameplates for semi-permanent and permanent adhesion. Different kinds of adhesives are available for your specific metal and purpose. For example, if your plates are to be used on equipment that are known to be exposed to heat or will heat up, a high performance adhesive that can withstand certain high temperatures should be used. If the surface is textured and not smooth, another kind of adhesive is also needed for this. Equipment that are exposed to chemicals and solvents also need another kind of adhesive to make these stick properly without fear of these falling off after extended periods of exposure.
